The best part of cities is the little things you find around corners. Having spent the majority of my first two months on the Gold Coast, I decided to google some things to do in Brisbane. It's about 2 hours by bus/ train away, but it's worth it!
I have always loved the markets at home (you can find some of the best things there!) from food to clothing. So I googled and found one in Fortitude Valley and another in Southbank. I went with 2 friends from Uni and we took the early morning train to Fortitude Valley (see the picture). Clothing, shoes, accessories GALORE! We spent a while wandering, trying on things, looking at really neat nail stickers (I'll need to post a picture of these-- a very time saving alternative to cool nail designs) and having lunch!
I actually didn't buy anything (I know, impressive, non?) but I could have spent a ton on the accessories and vintage dresses they had!
We then walked into Brisbane to Queen St, a wonderful indoor/ outdoor mall. Since the weather is nice (pretty much all the time) they can have this set up! We all tried on some more things, but opted to head to Southbank (across the river) before our credit cards got any kind of work out!
Southbank is probably my favourite part of Brisbane. They have this great man made beach (no sharks!) as well as a wonderful street full of shops and restaurants anddd another market! This one was a little more upscale, but again, I managed to escape with all of my money intact!
After a day of (outside) window shopping, it was back to the train and then bus and then a little more walking... A great Saturday!
